Air Travel With Kids
Everyone has a horror story of a flight next to a crying baby or a boy who would not have stopped beating his or her fists on the seat in front. As parents, we do not get dirty looks from other passengers and we hope that our kids will behave for a couple of hours of air travel. The way to improve the chances of a smooth flight plane with children is all in preparation.
Make sure you pack all the documents, expensive, or important elements in your forward. Bring a child seat with you to the plan, if you are traveling with an infant with a pacifier or bottle (you will probably have to have the bottle filled with a flight attendant because you cannot bring liquids on the plane.) You should also continue to drugs with a medical certificate explaining the purpose of drugs. If there is a small favorite toy the child sleeps with, put in the bag since they do not want to risk getting lost with your luggage. It may also help your baby nap on the plane.
If you are a single parent or grandparent traveling with a child, make sure you have your passport and supporting documentation, including a letter of consent from the other spouse or legal guardians. Letters may be called into question the authenticity, so it is better to have the letter, stamped or sealed by a notary or other official. If you separate, to maintain a form of identification in the pocket of the child as well. Teach your children to approach the airport or airline staff in uniform should they become lost.
Depending on the age, let your children become part of carry-on preparation of luggage. Older boys (5 +) can tell what books or toys they would like to include. Be sure to check their selections before leaving – which once stopped security, because my son decided to throw the police handcuffed her costume in her bag! The best items are inexpensive, lightweight, even disposable ones. Throw in a surprise or two after they are packaged.
When it comes to children’s activities, variety is the key. Children get bored with a task in minutes, so it is good to have more different items to keep them occupied. A book, a magazine, a coloring book with pencils and pencil crayons and a book of business are essential. Activity books include connect the dots, mazes, sudoku, word search, picture search, find errors, Ad Labs, etc.
A great source for activities airplane is a dollar store. They have books and coloring books, but much more. My kids love the little packages’ clay color. They would put their tray tables and play for hours, making figurines. They also have cards, dice, mini pack animal, craft kits and puzzles. Using them, you can leave the children behind and not have to take them on holiday together.
Walking bit ‘down the island can be fun, provided that the child not to run, scream or disturbing the passengers. We would like to look out the window next to the toilet, or look at the area where the flight attendants go. If you cannot get up to walk, try small stretches in its place to keeps the blood flowing.
Some of the best games we played in the course were simple pen and paper games or word games. Executioner includes card games, X and O, Dictionary, etc. A word game that we loved was to go through the alphabet in which each person would have to say the name of an animal, a person, place, thing, etc. through the alphabet.
It ‘also good to have snacks for children. If you have flight delays, or restaurant service is slow, snacks can be better than gold. Roll up fruit has been a favorite – you take the time to chew and are ideal for landings to keep the ears blocked up. I begin to prepare my children for landing before the pressure is actually based on. Small tricks to keep your ears open or pop them are chewing, yawning, drinking, swallowing, and blowing. I raise a fist to my daughter and she would have to blow as hard as he could into it. I would slowly open your fist, if I felt a lot of air coming out. Blowing air (like blowing up a balloon) often pops their ears, and trying to get the punch of opening could distract her from all pain.
